Project Updates

We have completed the Haiti Relief Food Drive. We want to take a moment to thank everyone who contributed to the drive. We were able to collect 3,100  lbs of food. Special thanks to all of the local business (listed below) who allowed us to place donation boxes at their various locations.  We will keep you updated on drives to come via this page, our Facebook page (link below).

Project Overview

As a result of the overwhelming tragedy that has recently happened in Haiti, Red Rock Financial Group has created “The Red Rock Haiti Relief Drive,” AN EFFORT TO RAISE 5,000 LBS OF CANNED FOOD FOR THOSE IN HAITI! We are asking that you stop by one of the various locations (listed below) and donate at least one non-perishable item.

Dear Potential Contributor:

As you may already know, there was recently an earthquake in Haiti, a French Speaking Caribbean country located on the island of Hispaniola. It is estimated that 50-75,000 people have been killed as a result of this earthquake. Regrettably, such events cannot be predicted and we cannot do anything to save those who are already lost; however, we can give our best efforts to save those who remain. Currently, countries around the world are rallying to provide Haiti with medical relief, food, water, and other resources to protect those who are injured and homeless throughout the country.

What contributors often fail to recognize is that aid is not something that can last for a week or two after such a disaster. In fact, it will take many years of aid for Haiti to be restored to prosperity. All too often, people forget about such incidents shortly after they transpire. Myself, Red Rock Financial Group, and Long Realty have brought together a group of amazing people who share the mutual goal of providing lasting aid in the form of on-going food drives throughout 2009. Although we will not be the first on the ground, we intend to send goods to Haiti for a period of at least 8 months.

In order to accomplish this mission, we will be hosting food drives periodically over the next 1-8 months around the University of Arizona and throughout Tucson. Our team is committed to putting these food drives in place; however, we cannot gather the necessary food without your help. We are asking that you stop by one of the various locations (listed on this event page) and donate at least one non-perishable item. Food is not the only form of aid; tooth brushes, toothpaste, soap and other essentials are appreciated as well.

The first food drive will take place between now (January 22nd, 2009) and February 5th, 2009. We promise to ship all of your donations to Haiti to benefit those affected by the earthquake, no matter how big or small your donations may be. I speak on behalf of myself, my team, and those who will benefit from your donations when I say, “Thank you so much for all that you can give in this time of desperation.”

Sincerely,

Benjamin Garland
